The Animals on the Bus - My students love to read these velcro books over and over again. This book I created using the animals in the calendar cut out pack. That set is discontinued now, but you can use any die cut animal shape and make up your own verses. I got the idea to make this book from the book The Seals on the Bus by Lenny Hort. My verses are:
Croak, croak, croak, Croak, croak, croak, Croak, croak, croak, The frog on the bus goes, Croak, croak, croak All thought the town.
Butterfly goes flutter, flutter, flutter
Birthdays - This is a new version of the Big Book that I made to go along with Jack Hartmann’s “Birthdays” song on his Math All Around Me CD. Be sure to check out my other versions in my Jack Hartmann Big Books section. I made this book using the Birthday Bears Bulletin Board set from Djinkers. (DJ610002) I put each month on a 12” x 18” piece of cardstock. I then laminated the pages and laminated the kids names. The names were run off on cardstock. Using velcro dots , I attached the names on the month that the child’s birthday is in. The kids love the song, so now they love remembering when everyone’s birthday is.
Read the Room - This is a wonderful book to get the kids reading and it is very easy to make. I used the Print-Rich Classroom Labels Bulletin Board set from Carson-Dellosa (CD-3266). I cut apart each of the labels so that the picture and the word were separate. I then rubber cemented the words onto the 12” x 18” cardstock. I laminated the pages and the picture cards. I attached the pictures to the pages using velcro dots. The kids have to match the words to the pictures. Be sure to save the header (packaging) that the set came in for the cover.
Senses - I created this interactive book using clipart from www.clipart.com and pictures that I found in the resource book Super Senses - by Jordano and Corcoran. 1 page has all of 4-5 pictures for the five senses. It is a really great resource book. The kids have to put the pictures on the page of the sense that they use to experience the object.
